The NSW Pregnancy and Newborn Services Network (PSN) was established in October 1991 following recommendations contained in the Shearman Report (1989) and Report of the Ministerial Working Party on Neonatal Services (NSW Health Department, 1991). The NSW PSN provides an interface between health care providers and NSW Health. Responsibilities include service coordination of high risk pregnancy and neonatal care, monitoring and evaluation of health services to mothers and infants; planning, policy development and implementation, education and research. Staff employed by the PSN work in close consultation with members of several working groups of perinatal health professionals to identify and address specific issues related to the provision of perinatal services throughout the state. |
